A new process which produces syngas using a range of input materials - from biomass to chlorinated plastic waste - should enable energy-intensive industries to cut their consumption of fossil fuels dramatically. The result: a potential reduction in energy costs of up to 50 percent and long-term improvements to their carbon footprint. The ground-breaking and environmentally-friendly ecoloop technology developed by a subsidiary of the Duisburg-based Xella Group was recently awarded the German innovation award for climate and the environment in Berlin. Ecoloop will be represented at the Environment Week, due to be hosted in June by the Federal President in Schloss Bellevue.
